Shen Shou, initially named Yunzhi, was born in Suzhou, Jiangsu province. She learned to embroider at a very early age and was exceptionally skilled in silk embroidery. She made her name for her exquistie silk embroidery works. She created many masterpiece silk embroidery paintings in her life. Some were made as a gift to Empress Dowager Ci Xi's 70th birthday.
