How to Make Chinese Suzhou Embroidery - Roll Stitch

There are 18 different stitches in Suzhou embroidery. Below is the introduction of the eleventh stitch, roll stitch,

18 - 11 Roll Stitch

Roll stitch puts two stitches close together to make a line. The two stitches are not connected to each other, but are inserted in the middle of the previous stitch. Silk threads are easily twisted in the roll stitch, which is especially good for embroidering curves. To make the roll stitch:  the first stitch (about 3mm) is made at one end of the design. The second stitch is made 1.5mm from the first stitch, and falls at the mid-point of the first stitch, and line is also three mm long (fig. a). The needle should be inserted in the middle of the line to hide the stitch mark. The third stitch also falls at the mid-point of the second stitch, and immediately connects the end of the first stitch (fig. b). The following stitches are made according to this pattern.
